Lucky Tommy Lewis

She said whoever buys her a watch gets to go all the way. She said it had to have jewels, be Swiss made, and have a steel bracelet. It didn’t have to be Tag Heuer or Gucci – for heaven’s sake, she knows she’s no Miss Universe – but it shouldn’t be cheap and she’ll want it in its original packaging and with its price tag.

I’d planned to do the job last night but when I arrived I saw the jeweller’s window already smashed and Tommy Lewis running down the street, watch in hand.

I know what his game is.

  1. Both Tommy and the girl are likely to end up in jail. He would be arrested for stealing and her for receiving stolen merchandise. It just isn’t worth it. He’s an amateur so likely to be caught. Many people in jail have thought themselves smarter than the police. Well done, Patrick. 🙂 — Suzanne

She is a very foolish girl, as are the boys, but that’s the way teenagers often are. I hope all of them come to their senses soon. Or maybe having the bling is a status symbol among peers? There are many ways to sell away one’s dignity. Great story and unique take on the prompt.

  3. Ugh, stupid boys. A sucker is born every day.

  4. Dave says:

How many guys have traded jail time to get a little? How many thought it worth the trade?

  5. Amy Reese says:

Ha! Great story. I think she must get whatever she wants. Funny, they had their eye on the same watch!

  6. draliman says:

Wow, she’s got those lads wrapped around her little finger! Great story.

  7. Margaret says:

Ah but all the way where? These boys are pretty gullible. She could be an undercover police officer. Tommy might just find himself going all the way to prison. Intriguing.

I like this girl, even if I do seem to be going against popular opinion. No emotional blackmail just a price up-front. In some parts of the world the negotiations are in number of cows.

Dear Patrick, you have outdone yourself in the creative department this week. Excellent work! Way to avoid all the cliches and blaze a new trail.

    All my best,

  10. Perhaps the other boy is actually the lucky one. Interesting take and well written.

I’m not so sure Tommy Lewis wins in the end. The narrator could give an anonymous call to the police or the jeweler. And, I’m not so sure she is a prize worth going to jail for.
    Really enjoyed your story!

  12. Francesca Smith says:

I do not think she is worth either of their time if she makes them resort to risking their freedoms.

  13. Good for her, and I want to see her as making the request figuring no one could achieve the quest. Probably too naive to understand the hormones of the young men, if she’s smart there’ll be another quest! But the title did is Lucky Tommy Lewis. Well done!

  14. Amusing in a sordid kinda way!

  15. Steal the Tag Heuer and you will be even happier

  16. For her, it’s all about timing, eh? 😉 Interesting story…

  17. Dear Patrick,

If a watch, albeit and expensive watch, is all it takes, my guess is she might not be worth the price. Well done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    • Thanks Rochelle. I’m ambivalent about her; I think it’s probably more about the acquiring of the watch, the taking of risks. (I had a name for her but it seems to have gone missing.)

  18. We all have a price, nice that she lays hers out. lol

  19. Caerlynn Nash says:

Looks like Tommy stole the show. Too bad for your MC. Great response to to prompt: unique!

  20. Nan Falkner says:

Her price is a nice watch – what a shame and Tommy is going to win. Good story! Nan

  21. micklively says:

First FF venture into prostitution, I think? Well done.

  22. k rawson says:

I don’t know how lucky Tommy is, but that’s one unlucky jeweler. Funny story!

  23. ansumani says:

He probably should wait for a Miss Universe…. he probably won’t be missing out on much.
